Another Sneak Peek...

My quilt is almost finished. Almost, as in, I was nearly finished stippling it when Mum walked in and told me that the friend I was making the {girl} quilt for had had a boy! So I laughed, threw it aside and madly whipped up a Dr Seuss quilt... in a day! Even though I was up until 11 o'clock finishing the stippling, I must admit it was rather fun to make and I'm quite in love with the Dr. Seuss fabric range!
The binding was hastily sewed on in the car while we drove up to the hospital (!), so unfortunately I don't have any proper photos. But. I am going to borrow the quilt off our friend to take some proper pictures for y'all. Hopefully that will be soon!

What do you think??

Simply Spring.

It's Spring here in Aussieland and it's simply beautiful! All the bright, magnificent colours of the blossoming flowers, the warm, sunshiny days...  as Anne of Green Gables said,
"Everything is new in the spring... Springs themselves are always so new, too. No spring is ever
just like any other spring. It always has something of its own to be its own peculiar sweetness."

I originally posted these photos on my main blog, but I thought I'd share them on here as well...  after all, as Sarah said, photography is a form of art, is it not?

"It's Spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want
-oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!"
~Mark Twain

What do you love about Spring?

Sneak Peek...

This quilt is a working progress... thought I'd show you a sneak peek!

The top is completed and I am in the process of basting it...

Almost finished! :)

Strawberry Dress

A couple of weeks ago was my little sister's birthday, and I tried my hand at making her a dress. As you can see, I'm not an expert at making clothes, but  (thankfully) the dress was...wearable.  The matching
doll-dress was a very last minute thing --- at 8:30 the night before her birthday I decided to make her dolly a matching one and, well, half way through it I gave up getting the measurements right and doing it properly.  As a result, the dress is too long and the top is too wide, but she's a doll and I don't think she minds.

Here are the photos!

I did make the straps a little too long. Okay, way too long. :S  I haven't fixed them yet.

I think I might make another one!  ... one day.

♥ Bonnets ♥

I've been making a couple of bonnets lately, and I've really enjoyed it! I've noticed that a lot of people comment on them when my little sisters wear them down town. Aren't they awfully cute?? I think they are.  That's why I was so excited when I discovered how to make them!

Very soon I'm going to order some cute summery fabric and make a whole new summer range of bonnets. They'll be available for sale on here soon, so keep a look out! And Northerners, your littlies can still wear them in Winter, of course. ;)

For the time being I'm going to be selling a couple bonnets locally, but if you're like me and absolutely ADORE anything 1800's-ey then feel free to shoot me an email and I can custom make one for you, with sizing and colours of your choice. :)

'Till then, adieu!

Another Hand Bag...

Hello dear followers!

Remember this bag I made a couple of months ago? My Grandma asked me to make her one, and this is the finished product! I had so much fun making it; choosing all the colours and just making another one was very satisfying! I used the range 'Meadowsweet' and the bag pattern by Janelle Wind.

♥ Doll Set ♥

I made this cute little dolls set the other day: a quilt, pillow and bib, and was rather happy with the results! What do you think??

Mary thought it was very special, she cried when I had to post it away to it's new owner. :'(

Can be made to order, in a variety of different fabrics. :)

Fresh Flowers Quilt

Hello there!

Well, I'm back from holidays, and had an amazing time away! We've been back for about three weeks now, and I've just started getting into sewing again, as well as blogging and various other things. :)

So you're probably wondering what this quilt is? I made it last week- isn't it pretty? I made the quilt out of a 'Fresh Flowers' Charm Pack (5"squares) that I won in a giveaway over at Pieces of Contentment and it was so simple and quick to make! The finished size of the quilt is approximately 46" square.

I apologise for any inconvenience and look forward to posting more items when I get back!

5 Books That Have Changed Who I Am

Caitlin  from Craftycrackpot  has tagged me in a book meme!  I was very excited to be tagged. :) As soon as I began to think of books that 'changed who I am' I thought of quite a few and had trouble deciding which ones to write about! There are just so many amazing books out there. These are my
choices: (I cheated and got some of the reviews off Shelfari :P)

God's Smuggler                                                                                    We actually listened to this on an Audio-Book, but I think it still counts. Brother Andrew began his work in 1955 as a one-man mission--visiting, teaching, and taking Bibles to Christians behind the Iron Curtain. It's an amazing story about what God did in this man's life and the many miracles that happened. Brother Andrew also founded the Open Doors Ministries!

The Bronze Bow
I loved this book! "In this novel, Daniel bar Jamin is fired by only one passion: to avenge his father's death by crucifixion by driving the Roman legions from his land of Israel. He joins an outlaw band and leads a dangerous life of spying, plotting, and impatiently waiting to seek revenge. Headstrong Daniel is devoid of tenderness and forgiveness, heading down a destructive path toward disaster until he hears the lessons taught by Jesus of Nazareth."

...Then Nothing Will Fail
This book is an autobiographical account of survival in Poland under the Nazi and Soviet Occupation. It's the story of Ted, a young Polish boy who survives the war with his family; the struggles they go through and how they come out in the end.
It is very real and whilst describing human nature at its worst, also describes it at its best.
I've read this book a few times. We met the author, Ted Kazmierski, a few years ago at a market where he was selling this book. He signed ours for us!

  A Christmas Carol
“External heat and cold had little influence on Scrooge. No warmth could warm, no wintry weather chill him. No wind that blew was bitterer than he, no falling snow was more intent upon its purpose, no pelting rain less open to entreaty.”
This is such an amazing book! I don't know if it 'changed who I am', but it's certainly a well-written book. Ebenezer Scrooge is a wealthy, grumpy old man who despises merriment and Christmas, who would rather sit in a cold, dark, room. On Christmas Eve night the spirit of his late working partner turns up and takes him into the Christmases past, present and future. He shows Scrooge what happens to people like him when they die, and by the end of the book Scrooge is a changed man.

Little Women
Another of my favourite books!
"The four March sisters and their mother, whom they call "Marmee", live in New England during the Civil War. Mr. March is a chaplain in the Union Army and rarely at home. The March girls suffer many privations because of the war and their poverty, but contrive to be happy by performing charitable services for neighbors, staging home theatricals, and attending parties. Theodore "Laurie" Laurence III, the grandson of Mr. Laurence, their wealthy next-door neighbor, makes their acquaintance and falls in love with Jo, the tomboy of the March family. Meg is the eldest, a governess who wishes she were rich. Beth is Jo's pet; she is shy, quiet, and very musical. All she ever wants is to be at home. Amy is the youngest, a selfish, pretty little artist who often fights with Jo."

I tag Big Sister , ElizabethRachaelGrace,  Beth and Moriah!

Here are the rules:
1) Tag between 3 and 6 people
2) Title your post '5 Books That Changed Who I Am'
3) Link back to this post.
4) Enjoy!
